Realist or Romantic?

You Are A Realistic Romantic

It's easy for you to get swept away by romance...
But you've done a pretty good job keeping perspective.
You're still taken in by love poems and sunsets
You just don't fall for every dreamy pick up line!

A Scarf

Pattern: Airy Scarf from Last Minute Knitted Gifts by Joelle Hoverson
Yarn: Jaggerspun Zephyr Lace Weight in Cinnabar
Measurements: 36" long and 6.5" wide.
Started: January 21, 2005
Finished: January 22, 2005
Other Details: Next time, I will add a few extra repeats to make this longer. The idea is to wear this scarf in a sonmewhat attractive manner around the neck with flair and confidence -- perhaps tied. Oh well, it was a quick and easy knit. My photography skills lack a certain finesse but my model is lovely. My baby is growing up.

One Central Park Hoodie Complete!!!

Pattern: Central Park Hoodie from the Fall issue of KnitScene.
Yarn: Knit Picks Wool of the Andes in Amethyst Heather 16 balls
Started: sometime in October 2006
Finished: February 19, 2007
Other Details: I am thrilled with the way this sweater turned out. Many of you might remember, the anguish I felt knitting the sleeves for the third time but it was so worth it. The sweater fits perfectly! There is something to that whole blocking thing. I was a little worried before I blocked the sweater but afterwards it was just fabulous. This is the first time I've ever blocked something and, I've got to say, it makes a big difference in the end product. My daughter is absolutely delighted! And, I am happy she's happy. :-) Now, on to Central Park Hoodie number 2. There's no rest for the wicked.

Baby Bolero

Pattern: Baby Bolero from One Skein
Yarn: Patons Classic Wool in Hot Pink
Measurements: Newborn
Started: Feburary 9, 2007
Finished: Feburary 9, 2007
Other Details: I make this for a friend at work who is expecting his first baby. Naturally, his wife is actually having the baby. His baby shower was originally scheduled for the 9th and I started this project in the hopes it would be a super fast knit and I'd have a cute gift. As it turns out, the baby shower was rescheduled for February 16, 2007 because Greg had chicken pox and needed time to recover. This bolero is super cute and quick!

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

I hope everyone is having a super day. I've had a great one so far. I received birthday wishes from my boyfriend, family, friends and sock-ret pal. Yes, today is my birthday. I am a love child. :-)

And, evidence of actual knitting . . .

Theses are my February socks for SAM3. I knit them with Opal yarn in the owl colorway -- just a basic rib pattern with a short-row heel. I'm also pretty sure there is enough yarn left over to make a pair of matching little person socks. These are for my friend Barbara. Her daughter will be thrilled to have socks just like her mommy's.

I think I've got the hang of the short-row heel. What do you guys think? I think I like it -- short-row heels aren't so bad.

Sock-ret Pal

Hello Sock-ret Pal,

I sent you a message telling you how much I enjoyed the last package you sent but I haven't heard from you. I'm woried that my email got lost and you didn't recieve my thanks. I don't want to appear rude or ungrateful. So, here's another official thank you for the super package. I love everything -- the yarn, the tea, the yummy lotion. You gave me a hint regarding your identify but I'm afraid my brain in broken and I remain clueless.

Hope to hear from you soon,

Laura

How many dish cloths?

. . . does it take to heal a relationship. I'm speaking of my love/hate relationship with the two Central Park Hoodies I've been working on.

I'm so traumatized from my experience knitting the sleeves for these two sweaters, I'll do just about anything to avoid completing them. To date, I've knit six sleeves for these guys -- only needed four. It's nothing short of miraculous that I managed to knit one long sleeve but six. I deserve a metal of some sort. My short attention span is not suited to sleeve knitting. I've managed to knit one and 3/4 pairs of socks, three hats, one scarf, one kerchief, a secret project to be revealed soon and seven dish cloths (one didn't make the photo shoot, it was already off to its new home). All projects perfect for someone who likes to get finished and move on with the next project.

The answer - - - It takes seven dish cloths, using seven different stitch patterns and all your left-over cotton yarn. I started knitting the hood for one of the central park hoodies last night. This is an exercise in patience and persistence. I've got loads of persistence -- a certain mule-headed stubbornness. I like to think of it as a strength
